CAMERA JAPAN 2006
In May and June 2005 we toured the cities of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Eindhoven. Besides a 'Nippon Digital' program and a retrospective of Suzuki Seijun our tour was accompanied by various parties and concerts. Motivated by the positive response from this experience, we founded Stichting Tamago (Tamago is Egg in Japanese) and decided to start our own festival. Bigger, better and with a new name: CAMERA JAPAN!!!
What's new?
In addition to a continuing cooperation with Nippon Connection Frankfurt (featuring parts of their 'Nippon Digital' and Retrospective programs), our screenings will include the latest cutting-edge feature films that the Japanese cinema today has to offer.
Special 'theme blocks' (such as Kid's Day, Gay Evening, Filmbrunch, Pink Pinksteren Film and Pecha Kucha Night) are in planning as well as a peek into other intriguing aspects of Japanese culture such as music and art.
We are also happy to announce that Filmhuis Den Haag will join us as a new festival location next to two of the participating theaters of last year (Lantaren-Venster/Rotterdam and Melkweg/Amsterdam).
CAMERA JAPAN aims to expand knowledge about Japanese culture mainly, but not exclusively, through film. Japanese cinema has a big reputation for being innovative, refreshing and experimental which can often mean insane, weird and disturbing as well as intriguing, fascinating and surprising.
We invite you to join us during our festival to experience it yourself and hope to see you in June 2006!
