FUJIMOTO Sou is vertegenwoordiger van een nieuwe generatie architecten en heeft na het afronden van de Universiteit van Tokyo bekendheid opgebouwd in binnen- en buitenland. De meeste lof heeft hij gekregen voor zijn conceptuele ontwerp “Primitive Future House”, waarin hij enkel gestapelde platen (stacked slabs) gebruikt, die dienen als basisstructuur, vensters, trappen en zelfs meubilair. Hij is op dit moment bezig deze radicale ideeën in de praktijk te brengen met zijn eigen architectenbureau Sou Fujimoto Architects.

One of these rising stars in contemporary Japanese architecture is FUJIMOTO Sou (*1971). He is best known for his conceptual explorations in order to create a completely different way to design architecture. Foresaking standard columns, slabs and stairs, he envisaged a single, multipurpose element that could play all three roles. This idea is articulated in the design of the Primitive Future House: a theoretical project that is entirely made from stacked slabs that can serve as structure, stairs, fenestration and even furniture. Tonight FUJIMOTO Sou will present his latest publication Primitive Future and talk about his work in general.
