OTENBA is het Japanse woord voor tomboy (wilde dame). Het schijnt af te stammen van het Nederlandse "ontembaar". De tentoonstelling OTENBA presenteert werk van in Nederland residerende Japanse kunstenaressen die in hun werk reflecteren op hun nieuwe individualistische omgeving en het effect daarvan op hun artistieke leven. OTENBA is onderdeel van het CAMERA JAPAN Festival 2008.
OTENBA means tomboy in Japanese. Supposedly it is derived from the Dutch word ontembaar. OTENBA presents the works of only female Japanese artists who currently reside in Holland. In their work they reflect on the way a new and individualistic environment influences their creative behaviour. OTENBA is part of the CAMERA JAPAN Festival 2008.
