Hip-hop underground en de traditionele Japanse samurai cultus komen in deze film samen. In een verre toekomst vechten samurai om de felbegeerde ‘nummer 1’ hoofdband die een goddelijke status met zich meebrengt. Afro Samurai (stem door Samuel L. Jackson) heeft zijn vader zien overlijden en zijn ‘nummer 1’ hoofdband verloren zien gaan. Van jongsaf aan is hij op zoek naar niets anders dan wraak. Dit leidt tot een lange en bloedige zoektocht die de film tot een spektakel maakt, maar waar ook genoeg te lachen valt. Na het succes van de gelijknamige anime tv-serie is nu eindelijk de film te zien!

OKAZAKI ‘Bob’ Takashi has become well known through his dynamic, original illustrations. He created the character Afro Samurai while still a student at Tama Art University. He self produced a limited edition Afro Samurai comics and figurines before it became an international success.

Digital Stadium, bekend als Digista, is een innovatief wekelijks TV programma dat sinds 2000 vertoond wordt op de Japanse publieke omroep NHK. Digista brengt een team bij elkaar uit de top van de digitale media (inclusief anime, installatiekunst, website ontwerp, enz.) die dienen als curatoren van het TV programma. Kijkers (ongeacht leeftijd, nationaliteit, amateur of professional) worden uitgenodigd om hun eigen werk te sturen naar de curator van hun keuze. Voor elk TV programma kiest de coördinerende curator vier werken voor presentatie en beoordeling en selecteert daar één uit voor de Digista Best Selection.
Digital Stadium, known as Digista, is an innovative weekly TV program aired nationwide in Japan on NHK (Japanese public TV) since 2000. Digista brings together a team of top digital media creators (including anime, installation art, website design, etc.) who serve as curators on the TV program. The general public (regardless of age, nationality, or professional/amateur status) is invited to submit their original digital artworks to their curator of choice. For each TV program, the supervising curator picks 4 works for presentation and critique, selects one work as the Digista Best Selection. This screening program presents highlights from recent Digista Best Selection works.

In the world of anime, the name of Studio 4°C rings a lot of quality bells. Op de vlucht voor een group Ming krijgers uit China, ontmoeten de jonge Kotaro en zijn hond een geheimzinnige naamloze samurai die zijn zwaard heeft verzegeld, maar desondanks nog steeds een formidabele vechter is. In een wereld waar je niet zomaar iemand kunt vertrouwen en de vijand overal spionnen heeft, nemen ze het samen op tegen de Ming krijgers en de kwaadaardige feodale heer die duistere plannen in petto heeft voor Kotaro. Een anime van grote klasse met spectaculaire actie sequenties, fantastische visual effects en zeer sterk stemmen acteerwerk.
Running from a group of Ming soldiers from China, young Kotaro and his dog meet a nameless samurai who for some reason has sealed his sword but is still a mighty fighter. Together they team up against the Ming and the evil feudal lord who hired them and who has some dark plans in mind with Kotaro. Set in a world where it is hard to trust anyone and the eyes of the enemy are everywhere, a top of the line anime is born with spectacular action sequences, amazing visuals and terrific voice acting.
