DORAVIDEO, het geesteskind van ICHIRAKU Yoshimitsu, ontving een eervolle vermelding in de Digital Music sectie van Europa's grootste media art festival ARS Electronica met zijn spannende en fascinerende werk. Zijn live optredens draaien om een drumstel waaraan hij sensoren heeft bevestigd en verbonden heeft met een computergestuurd systeem, zodat hij met zijn instrument videobeelden kan aansturen. De ogenschijnlijk willekeurige geselecteerde beelden van televisie en speelfilms geven DORAVIDEO's voorkeur weer voor het absurde en het onvoorspelbare. Een overdonderende ervaring!
DORAVIDEO is the brainchild of ICHIRAKU Yoshimitsu which received an honorary mention in the Digital Music division of Europe's largest media art festival ARS Electronica with his exciting and captivating work. DORAVIDEO's live performance involves a drum set and a computer controlled system connected to sensors on his drums, which allow him to use his instrument to control the video image. Nonsensical, yet satirical entertainment with visual fireworks!

EL FOG is het bijzondere soloproject van FUJITA Masayoshi. Dit is vooral bijzonder omdat Masayoshi een niet alledaags instrument in de electronische muziek gebruikt: de vibrafoon. Hij bespeelt niet alleen het instrument, maar stuurt via de toetsen ook nog eens loops en samples aan. Het resultaat is een fijne mix van jazz, dub, hiphop en klassieke muziek. EL FOG's debuut Reverberate Slowly werd uitgebracht op het Moteer Label (the boats). Vorige maand kwam Rebuilding Vibes uit op het japanse Flau label. Dit album werd gemixed door AOKI Takamasa en gemastered door Stephan BETKE (POLE). Een goede verstaander weet dan gelijk wat hij kan verwachten.
EL FOG is the solo project of the exceptional artist FUJITA Masayoshi. Special because Masayoshi plays an instrument hardly used in the electronic music scene: the vibraphone. He does not only play the instrument, but via the keys also loops and samples are created. The result is a fine mix of jazz, dub, hiphop and classical music. EL FOG's celebrated debut 'Reverberate Slowly' came out on the Moteer label (the boats). Last month the highly anticipated follow-up 'Rebuilding Vibes' was released on the Japanese Flau label. This album was mixed by AOKI Takamasa and mastered by Stephan BETKE (POLE). Electronica experts will know what to expect.

Astro HASEGAWA Hiroshi is mede-oprichter van de Japanse noise legende C.C.C.C. Met zijn solo project Astro, beweegt HASEGAWA zich meesterlijk tussen analoog vervaardigde broeierige drones en psychedelisch getinte Japanse noise.
Kouhei Kouhei's reductionistische electronica is vooral bekend als muzikale backdrop voor hiphop outsider Sensational, split lp's met Merzbow en remixes met Autechre. Tegenwoordig maakt hij abstracte beatmuziek van uitzonderlijke klasse.
Astro HASEGAWA Hiroshi is best known as the founding member of the Japanese noise legends C.C.C.C. With his solo unit Astro, HASEGAWA focuses on music that stems from an analogue mindset, conjuring feverish dreamscapes from oscillators, ring modulators and field recordings. Astro's music masterfully drifts between dreamy drones and psychedelically charged Japanese noise.
Kouhei One of the most compelling abstract beat wizards of late is Osaka-born MATSUNAGA Kouhei. Kouhei catered to music connoisseurs worldwide with excellent reductionist electronica releases on acclaimed labels such as Mille Plateaux and Raster-Noton. In his more recent work, MATSUNAGA's hardcore techno and hiphop roots come to the fore.
Oorutaichi & KISHINO Yuichi

Oorutaichi makes drifter music, strung together with expert percussion and electric rays, flowing on a river of magical chants, inspired loops and choruses. It is exalted and resolutely pop. Onstage, Oorutaichi is not chained to his machines but sings with them in a deluge of extravagance and colour. His first album “Yori Yoyo” (2003) was released to much acclaim by Yamatsuka Eye (Boredoms), Juana Molina and others.
KISHINO Yuichi is no stranger in Rotterdam. The people that witnessed Kishino's loveable Dadaist universe in May 2008 will smile approvingly upon hearing about his return. His 'La veuve moustache' show is a highly entertaining collection of cabaret, chanson, toothache-sweet easy-tune and video. The video images – fragments from Japanese movies – are closely related to Yuichi's texts and form a theatrical backdrop for his performance. Dressed as a widow, Yuichi and his moustache are provided musical support by pianist MIURA Yoko.

Radiq: Oshihiro Hanno is heeft een indrukwekkende staat van dienst met de vele projecten die hij onder diverse namen heeft gedaan. Hij heeft soundtracks gemaakt voor oa Jia Zhang-Ke, een stuk van Ravel bewerkt en uitgevoerd met een 22 koppige orkest en heeft samen gewerkt met oud Japan-lid Mick Kam en Ryuichi Sakamoto. Zijn meest recente project heet RadiQ en is het meest dansbare en tevens jazzy van al zijn projecten. De beats neigen naar hiphop op zijn meest funky en de melodieën, hoe minimaal ook, getuigen van een grote liefde voor jazz en funk. Het was nog nooit zo broeierig in de Popcentrale. Klinkt als Prefuse 73 en het beter Ninja Tune werk.
Takeshi Nishimoto

Gitarist Takeshi Nishimoto werd geschoold in de tradities van Amerikaanse jazz en europese klassieke muziek. Naast veelvuldig optredens als solo artiest, gaat hij veel bijzondere en brede samenwerkingen aan waaronder sitarspeler Rahaul Sakyaputra, en technoproducer John Tejada, met wie hij I’m not a Gun vormt. Takeshi’s melodieen zijn doordrenkt van een verlegen subtiliteit, niet beinvloed door trucs of gitaar bravoure. Takeshi zit bij het Berlijnse City Office Centre label.
