After Lantaren-Venster in Rotterdam, CAMERA JAPAN was also a big success at Kriterion in Amsterdam. Many people braved the grey and rainy skies to come and watch movies, got mesmerized by Doravideo, danced to DJ Hito, enjoyed the Filmbrunch and slurped a steaming cup of tasty Udon.
Our next stop is Dordrecht.
Besides exclusive concerts by Radiq and Takeshi Nishimoto, many additional events will take place, amongst which a Taiko Drum workshop, Yamamoto Yu's dance and the 'Uninvited Host' Geisha performance.

Our friends at WORM found out that Ichiraku-san was staying in their hood Delfshaven and they decided to add DORAVIDEO to their Friday line-up at last minute. (Good decision!!)

The surprise film of our closing night of CAMERA JAPAN 2009 will be ‘The Sky Crawlers’, the latest film from Oshii Mamoru, creator of such masterworks as Ghost in the Shell, Avalon or Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. We couldn’t think of any other film more appropriate than this praised Anime feature to mark the finale of our 4th festival edition to celebrate Rotterdam being European Youth Capital in 2009. This sci-fi tinged, full-length anime feature opens on a peaceful future, where Earth has left the violent conflicts of war in the past. Human nature still craves the clash of battle, however, so private companies now stage "war as entertainment," creating fictional wars for ordinary people to read about in the paper. These companies call exclusively on the services of young people known as Kildren. One such Kildren - a young man named Yuichi - has been newly assigned to a base in the fictional war, but with no memory of his past and a mysterious woman named Suito watching his every move, Yuichi is about to find that this made-up war is not as harmless as it seems.
